In de wereld van muziek is er een decennium dat voor velen synoniem staat aan een onvergetelijke mix van genres, stijlen en onmiskenbare hits. De Nillies, de zeroes, de 00s, oftewel de jaren 2000-2010, brachten een muzikale revolutie met zich mee die nog steeds nazindert in de harten van velen. Een tastbare herinnering aan deze tijd wordt levendig gepresenteerd in de 00s Top 500 van MNM, een muzieklijst die een prachtige reis terug in de tijd biedt.

In België waren de Nillies niet alleen getuige van muzikale evolutie, maar ook van een aantal opmerkelijke gebeurtenissen die de geschiedenis van het land kleurden. Denk aan de invoering van de euro als officiële munteenheid, de opkomst van sociale media en de toenemende populariteit van reality-tv. Het was een tijd waarin België zich op de kaart zette als een creatieve broedplaats, zowel op muzikaal als maatschappelijk vlak.

De 00s waren het tijdperk van artiesten die iconisch werden, niet alleen vanwege hun muzikale talent, maar ook vanwege hun vermogen om de tijdsgeest vast te leggen. Namen als Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake en Beyoncé domineerden de hitlijsten en creëerden een soundtrack voor een generatie. Hun muziek, die een mix was van pop, R&B en hip-hop, weerspiegelde de diversiteit en dynamiek van de tijd.

In België kwamen ook lokale talenten op de voorgrond. Artiesten zoals Natalia, Milow en Milk Inc. brachten een frisse wind in de muziekscene en veroverden de harten van het Belgische publiek. De 00s Top 500 van MNM geeft een prachtige dwarsdoorsnede van deze diverse muzikale reis, met nummers die variëren van dansvloer-anthems tot gevoelige ballads.

De lijst heeft door de jaren heen een evolutie doorgemaakt. In 2014 en 2016 werd de lijst uitgezonden als de Nillies Top 100, maar sinds 2021 is het een uitgebreide Nillies Top 500 geworden, waardoor luisteraars een nog diepere duik kunnen nemen in het muzikale erfgoed van dit onvergetelijke decennium.
